As a recruiter, I see dozens of outdated and horrible résumés. Unorganized, with bad grammar, and even addressed to the wrong employer. I have, out of empathy made corrections to and even sent the revised version back to applicants with suggestions. Of course in these cases, the applicants were completely clueless. That is why I made the decision to help others in their career search.
If you do not already know, your résumé is your job history written down on a few sheets of paper, one that a recruiter will glimpse over in a matter of seconds and determine if you have the skills and or needs they want. If you think for a second that a recruiter will take the time to read every bit of information you provide on your résumé, then you are dead wrong! We recruiters see so many résumés, that say the same things, blah blah blah, that we start to go cross-eyed after a while.
It really is super important to take the time and have a professional résumé written, one well organized with details of what you can bring to the table. You need to stand out and be able to sell yourself to recruiters because you will be competing against hundreds of other job applicants. An applicant eventually will get a job, but a résumé could land you a career.
Remember, a résumé is just a quick glimpse and does not tell your whole story, if and when you do get an invitation to interview, that is your opportunity to shine and sell your future employer on what you can bring to the table.
